Falcons 2 - Phoenix - Rødovre

Our second face-off of the season against Rødovre, this time with less reinforcement from div players. We found a solid chemistry for our first lineup with Janek, Tom, and Rasmus, who showcased plenty of skillful plays. Our team put a solid effort on the forecheck, and as always, Elliot and the defense held the fort.

First Period

Falcons goal: Esben carries the puck into their zone, picked up by Tom and Rasmus. Rasmus fires a shot on goal, and Janek redirects the puck between the goalie's pillows. 1:0

Killian gets a nice chance at the slot, but their goalie is in place.

Falcons goal: Tom threads a pass from the right side into the crease, and Janek slaps it home from the far post. A promising start. 2:0

Rødovre ups the tempo and mounts a few good attempts to break onto the scoreboard, but Elliot shuts them off.

After the first period, the referee offers Elliot some tips.

Second Period

We kick off the period strongly, generating a 2-on-1 situation. Tom fires a shot, but the puck bounces just a bit too far from Janek's stick

Rødovre's angry bulls strike with a goal from #6, who dangles through and fires from the low slot. Score now 2:1.

Rødovre makes a second attempt at a goal; their defenseman heads for the net, but Bryn swiftly sends him crashing to the ice.

Rødovre scores their second goal as #26 shoots a backhand shot on goal. A tough bounce from Elliot's glove sees the puck finding its way into our net. Score tied at 2:2.

Rødovre goal: we got pushed way too deep into our zone, and their captain scores from the post. 2:3

Rødovre extends their lead with a 2-on-1 rush, and #95 makes 2:4.

We receive a "cold shower" in the second period. After some bench discussions, we know what needs to be done in the third.

Third Period

Falcons goal: Esben once again gets the puck behind their net and feeds Thor in front, who buries it. Score now 3:4.

Elliot pulls off a spectacular helmet save.

Rødovre goal: #95. 3:5

Rødovre gets physical, with #94 leveling Rasmus after a rush to their end. Stripes decides to send both of them to the sin bin. Not sure what was the call there, but it leads to some confusion on the ice. Both teams play 5-on-5.

Tensions rise as #34 attempts a reverse slew foot on Bryn after the whistle. Ref probably looked the other way. Right after, #97 tries to play a division game, tackling Slawomir. Bryn "politely" reminds him with his shoulder that this is a motion game. The ref penalizes us, issuing a misconduct call for Bryn. We're now 4-on-5.

Falcons goal: A kick pass to Janek from Rihards, who then dishes it to Tom. Tom returns the favor to Janek on the left side, who scores a shorthanded goal, completing his hat-trick. Score now 4:5.

In the final minutes, we struggle to gain a foothold in their zone to equalize the game and Rødovre seals the deal right at the buzzer. Final score: 4:6.

It's our first loss of the season, but lessons are learned. We'll face them again on Friday on our home turf.
