Falcons 2 - Phoenix - KSF Hvid
GAME REPORT - MOTION A VS KSF hvid
It's our first encounter with KSF hvid, essentially the KSF blue team but playing dirtier than a pair of used hockey socks.
We had a few new debutants for the game and a surprise appearance by Coach Arvis to boost our spirits.
In the locker room, Frederik, our captain for the game, shares some notes on our gameplay, while Tom delivers an inspirational speech.
Statistics from the game:
icings: 6

Power plays: 4
First Period
KSF goal: They strike first as #62 fires a shot from the left boards. Winston gets his stick on the puck, but it treacherously finds its way into the net. 0:1.
A post and Winston save us from a second unanswered goal.
Winston pulls off a nice save between his legs. KSF is dominating this stretch, and we're giving them too much space.
Tom causes a loose puck at our blue line, and Simony nudges it further onto Lucas’ blade. He charges ahead with a player chasing him, challenging the goalie with a hard wrist shot. Great chance for us.
Winston stops the puck and a player from going into the net, sacrificing his body in the process. He's sprawled on the ground, resembling a crime scene silhouette, but thankfully, he recovers!
A huge chance for us as our first line creates opportunities. Simony receives the puck from their defender, skates into their zone, and almost sets up Lucas for an open shot. Really close, and a great buildup! They almost repeat the formula straight afterward, coming close to capitalizing again.
Thor wins the faceoff in their zone and passes it back to Rolands, who's ready to fire. Their goalie makes a good save with his left pad.
We get a power play chance.
Rasmus gets a great look from a backhand pass by Bryn behind the goal but shoots it just left of the post.

KSF goal: Slawo is overrun by their player on the boards, and #12 swoops in, grabs the puck, and wraps it around the goal. Defenders are let down by us forwards. 1-2.
Second Period
Falcons goal: Tom notches his second of the game! Rasmus applies pressure on the defense, as he usually does, and gets the puck back behind the goal. He passes it to Tom, who fires it in. 2-2.
Falcons goal: With finesse reminiscent of Ronaldinho, Kasper traps the puck in the air with his chest and fires it at the goalie. It falls to Thor, who lifts it over the goalie to put us ahead! 3-2.
Mikkel gets a great opportunity but is denied by their goalie.
Nice interception by Slawomir and Rihards right after, saving us from a dangerous situation.
KSF (no) goal: A situation we need to improve on for the next game: covering and pushing their forwards away from our goal. Two KSF players are left completely alone in front of the goal, and #27 manages multiple shots. Winston does well to keep them out, but one finally slips past. Fortunately, the goal is disallowed by the refs because the player in red gloves slammed Rihards right before the goal was scored. Watching it back, we're lucky to get away with that one.
On top of that, we get our second power play, but we struggle to set our footing in their zone.
Great pass by Søren from the top right corner of their zone all the way over to Bjarne, who fires it top right but is caught out by their goalie.
Amazing work by Winston to deny #93 who is left completely alone in front of the goal.
KSF goal: They capitalize on a pass from behind the net as #12 scores from the low slot. We get a bit sloppy here after losing possession three times in a row at faceoffs. Score: 3-3.
KSF goal: Once again, no one covers their forward in front of the goal. Winston is left helpless, and #93 scores. Score: 3-4.
Great effort by Rasmus! He slices through the defense and shoots with his backhand, almost scoring. Another major chance arises as the puck nearly finds its way to their right post.
Winston pulls off amazing saves, keeping us in the game!
Some good defensive stops by Slawo and Bryn. Bryn saves us entirely on a 2-on-1, while Winston makes a nice glove save minutes later.
Rihards makes a sweet recovery to prevent their player from breaking away! Right after, their forward is alone on goal, but Winston denies him with his right pad.
Falcons goal: Kasper's hustle leads to a sneaky shot by Rolands that catches the entire KSF team off guard, finding its way into their goal! 4:4
Third Period
We enter the third period with full power. Bryn raids and passes to the slot from the left circle, but Kasper misses the backhand shot.
KSF goal: A shot from the blue line hits bodies in front of our net. Winston denies the rebound, but #93 scores from the high slot. KSF leads 4:5.
Falcons goal: Bryn steals from a player in the center, dekes past their defense, and hits the post. Tom gets the rebound and scores, equalizing the game. Score: 5:5.
Tom earns us another power play as he's tripped or hooked in a 1-on-1 situation. However, we struggle to enter their zone, something we need to work on in practice.
KSF goal: At full strength, #62 receives a pass from behind the net and scores from the low slot. KSF leads 5:6.
A dangerous 2-on-1 play by KSF is halted as Rihards gets his stick on the opponent's shot. #12 receives a slashing call, sending him to the sin bin, giving us our fourth power play chance.
Falcons goal: Bryn goes coast to coast and equalizes the score, delivering an important goal. 6:6
Winston makes a crucial glove save, stopping a snipe from the top right circle.
Tom gets a chance at the crease, but their goalie thwarts the shot.
With two minutes left on the clock, we receive a penalty, and Slawo heads to the penalty box. Just 30 seconds later, KSF #30 collides with Bryn's knee and falls like a unicorn attempting to ice skate. It's a questionable call, and we remain 3-on-5.
We survive the penalty, and the refs decide to proceed straight to a shootout. According to IIHF rules, Bryn and Slawo have to sit this one out too.
