AOIF off to a flyer!
Aarhus Oldboys International Football got off to a flying yesterday, with a 5-2 win over Hasle B.
With their backs to the beaming sun first half, AOIF worked tirelessly in attack, an early penalty being awarded for the hard graft. Up stepped Andy Grantham to score his 1st goal of the season and 13th club goal. From this point on, AOIF led for the whole game a controlled well.
A competitive and hard tackling game found Sam "the catalyst" Evans in his all too familiar position of stand-off with an opponent. After a strange exchange of words and narrow avoidance of a booking, Evans returned to reality to complete a fine performance.
Central midfielder and play-maker Rob Thomas found himself on the score-sheet twice, along with 1 assist, but he will surely be kicking himself for a close range miss which could have gifted an opening day hat-trick.
A captains display from Jacob Toft saw the big Dane find the back of the net for his 5th club goal, whilst also notching up another assist to make 6 for the club.
Tim Smalley also added an assist, along with a thunderous down field kick from goalkeeper Neil Smith, creating one of the games best goals.
Man of the Match was Andy Grantham, closely followed by Graham Maclachlan who showed some solid defensive work and Rob Thomas.
Debut for Tommy Møller.
